The South East TREC Group has been set up for horse riders in the counties of Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent interested in the TREC equestrian sport, although some riders from Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire register their interest for events in the South East.

Our aim is to promote BHS TREC in the South East and to form liaisons with other groups both in the UK and parts of Europe. We encourage and assist with the organisation of competitions, provide orienteering/map reading and obstacle training.

A regular newsletter is produced and is currently sent free to those riders who register their interest to receive a newsletter by email. Riders who request by post are asked for a contribution towards printing and postage. The newsletter will include TREC news in the South East, training, articles on TREC, events and information from the British Horse Society national TREC.

If you wish to register your interest then send your name, postal  and email address to the contact below and further details will then be sent to you.

 *** NEW FOR BHS TREC 2009 ***

In 2009 there will be one BHS TREC Championship of Great Britain, which is to be held in Scotland (venue tbc) on Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August, and potential competitors will need to qualify.

The decision was taken at the BHS Competitions Advisory Committee meeting to improve the credibility of the BHS TREC Championships and to improve the standard of entrants to the Championships.

There will be numerous qualifiers held around the Country, the dates and information about these qualifiers will be available (can be found) on the BHS Website www.bhs.org.uk If you wish your BHS TREC event to be a Championship qualifier you must read the guidelines on the BHS website and complete and return the application form.

To qualify for the Championships in 2009, you must either have finished 1st to 10th at a qualifying event in the level at which you want to compete at the BHS Championships, or completed a BHS TREC Championships in the last two years. If someone who is placed 1st – 10th at a qualifier has already qualified then the qualifying place passes down the line. If you ride as a pair and qualify then you have qualified as part of that pair no as part of another pair, or as an individual at that level. If you have qualified at a level then you are deemed to have qualified for lower level classes; for example half of a qualified level 3 pair could rider as a level 2 individual.
